Sorry for the delay.

You could be right! There are multiple origins for some stories. Through time they have been combined.

I like your post for multiple reasons. It tells me some one is listening with a ear for details and is willing to challenge me. Also, I should find more than one reference for the things that I read/say/quote.

I did a little looking on the Internet and another site said that Jack and Jill refer to "King Louis XVI - Jack -who was beheaded (lost his crown) followed by his Queen Marie Antoinette - Jill - (who came tumbling after)." (http://www.rhymes.org.uk/jack_and_jill.htm)

I found the "Madison Metropolitan School District Planetarium" confirmed what I said in the podcast in this PDF file (http://www.madison.k12.wi.us/planetarium/jacknjill.pdf) with a diagram on how to find "Hjuki" and "Bil".

A third page says that Jack and Jill refers to King Charles I of England when he tried to mess with some taxation laws. (http://en.allexperts.com/e/j/ja/jack_and_jill_(song).htm)

Man, talk about multiple personality disorder.

Derek, again great post and thanks for the additional definition for Jack and Jill.

It was interesting to hear that the originals of Jack and Jill came from Norse mythology. I don't agree with this version. Jack and Jill were real people who lived in the west country of England (around Somerset). Jack lost his life and Jill died giving birth to their son. They were not married. The child was brought up by the rest of the village and was never given a proper name and was only referred to as Jack's son. This gave rise to the name 'Jackson'. regards Derek

I'd only heard it was the day of the Moon, I had no idea we had a Moon God. You're aware that the Norwegian equivalent of Saturday is Lørdag (the letter that probably won't show up is an o with a diagonal line through it). I heard it was originally Laugedagen (the bathing day).
